We also provide appointments for people who already have a diagnosis of ADHD. We don’t need a person with a previous diagnosis to go through the whole process again. We call these appointments “confirmation of diagnosis” appointments. These are usually seen by our consultant psychiatrists. To book this type of appointment please complete this form where you will be asked to upload your previous reports / documentation.

Unfortunately, we do not manage a cancellation list. The best approach would be to keep an eye on changing availability on the website where any cancellations will be shown.

ADHDdoc Midwest opened its doors in Templemore under the excellent care and guidance of Dr. Ailish Kenny in August 2023. Dr. Ailish trained as a full member of the team in Dublin. She has now moved home to Templemore and is continuing to provide the exact same service in Templemore where she has been a GP for more than twenty years.

The easiest way to do this is to fill out the online form for repeat prescriptions on the website. The form has all the information we need and we will do our very best to send out all repeat prescriptions within 2 working days..

We try our best to ensure that your review date with a doctor happens before your medication is due to expire but in some situations this might happen. You may need a couple of days to “bridge the gap” between meds expiring and your next appointment. Just fill out your details below and we will send a prescription to your pharmacy to tide you over. Remember to give us your pharmacy details.

ADHD medication works well up to 80% of the time but it can take time to adjust to the medication. It is important to remember that if you can’t tolerate the side effects – stop taking the medication immediately and contact the clinic. This is not dangerous and nothing bad will happen; you can stop the medication from one day to the next.

When you start the medication you may experience nausea and appetite loss. You may have headaches and a dry mouth. These are very common side effects and usually improve after a week or so. The appetite suppression is usually the last to improve but it will with time.

Some people experience a “crash” in the evenings and so you might feel really exhausted or your mood may be lower than usual (especially in the evening) at the beginning when you take the medication. This usually improves once the dose increases but it can be very worrying for some. Again if you are very concerned just stop the medication and reach out to us.

You can claim a full refund with cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. Between 24-48 hours cancellation notice will entitle you to 50% refund. We are very sorry but any cancellations that are made within 24 hours of your appointment are non-refundable.

How do I book an assessment?

All new patient assessment bookings can be conveniently made directly on our website. Simply follow this link: Book Your Assessment.

What is the pricing for the assessments?

The cost of the two-stage assessment is €1200. Our screening & testing phase forms the first visit to our clinic. This visit takes place in- person at ADHDdoc and takes 1 hour. It consists of a QbTest which is an objective computer-based test that measures your activity level, ability to concentrate and impulse control. This visit can be booked online on our website. €400 euro is payable at the time of booking. This is an in person visit.

The second stage is a 120-minute follow up assessment. This costs €800. This is an in person visit.

Between two and five titration visits usually suffice to optimise your medication. Everyone is different in how they react to the medication. The first medication review is a 30-minute session with the GP and is priced at €150. Further titration visits are 15 minutes and priced at the standard GP fee of €70.

These visits may take place in person, by video link or by telephone.

What is the assessment process?

This assessment entails a Qb test, which is an individual computer-based assessment to test for ADHD. This assessment will be followed-up with a GP assessment 4-6 weeks after where you will potentially receive a diagnosis and medication, if deemed necessary by the doctor. There will be a follow-up medication titration process with the doctor, to trial medication and make any adjustments if necessary. I would recommend having a read of the ‘what to expect’ section on our website.

Do I need A GP referral?

ADHDdoc is a self-referral service, so GP referrals are not required.

Do I need to bring anything or anyone with me for the first assessment?

You do not need to bring anything with you for the first assessment. For the second appointment, you will need to bring a collateral history sheet which will be given and explained to you by a member of our team after the QB test. You do not need to bring anyone with you for the first assessment unless you wish to. Similarly, for the second assessment, bringing someone is not mandatory but if you would like to you can.

Do you have a cancellation list?

Unfortunately, we do not manage a cancellation list. The website is live therefore the best approach would be to keep an eye on changing availability. Any cancellations will be shown in the booking section there.

How do I book an appointment if I already have a prior diagnosis?

We have a new booking form on our website to book Confirmation of Diagnosis appointments. We require a copy of your previous diagnosis report, which can be uploaded as a file. You can fill the form here and we will be in touch. Note: you will need a copy of your ECG and blood test results within the last 6 months sent in advance of your appointment.

Can the appointments be done online?

The assessments (first and second appointments) must be completed in-person. After that, you can do phone call or Doxy-me video appointments.

For online appointments, will I receive a video link?

For phone appointments, the doctor will call you at the time of appointment. For video appointments, you will receive an SMS with a Doxy-me link at the time of your appointment. Please note that doctors may be running a few minutes behind, but they will contact you.

Can I book my own follow-up appointments?

Your follow-up appointments are made directly after your appointments by a member of our administration team. For patients who need to book a follow-up appointment after an online appointment, please get in touch directly after your appointment to book your follow-up. Please refrain from leaving it too late as our appointments book up very quickly.

How do I order my prescription?

If you are running out of medication, you will need to book an appointment to order your next prescription- this is why we strongly recommend organising your follow-up appointment directly after your appointment to prevent running out of medication. If you have a repeat prescription, you can order your prescription on our website form.
