After Booking

Shortly after booking your appointment, you will receive documentation to be completed including a registration form, parental consent form, and a collateral history form. This should be completed prior to your first appointment.

Psychiatry Consultation

This visit marks the beginning of your journey with us at ADHDdoc. The cost of this consultation is €900. This is to be paid at time of booking. At this visit, you will meet with our consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist who will conduct a 2-hour interview with the parents/guardians, and the child. The psychiatrist will discuss topics such as family history, behavioural concerns, routines, specific challenges, goals and previous assessments. Review of all previous reports will be completed prior to the appointment. Our psychiatrist may prescribe medication to treat ADHD if medically suitable and if both the parents/guardians and the young person agree. Baseline measures such as height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse will also be taken at this consultation.

Medication Reviews

Medication is a first-line treatment of ADHD. Titration is a process used to find the right dosage of a medication.

Titration or medication dose adjustment, ensures maximum treatment effects from your child’s medication, with minimum side effects. To determine the most suitable medication and dosage for your child’s needs, a series of appointments with our Psychiatrist will be required, as everyone responds differently to medication.

All medication is adjusted on an individual basis, taking your child’s response to medication, side-effects, preferences, lifestyle and other health conditions into account.

Treatment Initiation

Your child should have their blood pressure and pulse checked with each increase in dose of their medication. You could ask your pharmacy to do this, or you can buy a blood pressure monitor from your pharmacy. Please record your child’s blood pressure and pulse readings and have them ready before their next visit.
